Susan Bear

Susan Bear is an artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Glasgow, Scotland. In June 2024 she released her second album, Algorithmic Mood Music – a collection of ten shimmering indie-electronic tracks written, performed, produced, recorded and mixed by Susan in her home studio, and released on Lost Map Records. The album featured three singles which received extensive airplay on BBC 6Music, BBC Scotland and regional stations across the UK. Alongside her solo work, Susan thrives on collaboration. Over the past decade she has produced for and performed with a wide range of artists including Sacred Paws, Karine Polwart, Sarah Hayes (Admiral Fallow), The Pastels, Frances Mckee (The Vaselines) Martha Ffion, Pictish Trail and Malcolm Middleton. Her 2024 production for Pictish Trail – the Follow Footsteps EP was released on Fire Records on 13th September 2024. She is also a member of the women and non-binary artist collective Hen Hoose. Susan co-wrote and produced three tracks on the collective’s new album, released January 2026, and also mixed and mastered the record in its entirety.

Her new series of singles, released via Epidemic Sound, has been recorded with entirely analog hardware from the Glasgow Library of Synthesised sound.

Beyond her recording work, Susan creates original sound and music for film and theatre. Her work for Maggie & Me (National Theatre of Scotland) was nominated for Best Sound Design at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards. Her latest music for film project, Pineapple – commissioned by BBC Three – is available to watch in BBC iPlayer.
